registration & tuition

POLICY AND AGREEMENT

I understand and agree to the following:

Registration & Tuition

  • All returning and new members must register each semester. You will have a grace period of 14 days at the start of the semester to withdraw from a class in order to avoid paying tuition for the entire term. After the grace period, each dancer is committing to the entire semester and agrees to pay their monthly fees until the end of the semester.

  • All new or returning students who have taken a break must pay a registration fee of $35 before the start of the semester.

  • Tuition for Fall & Winter-Spring is based on four classes per month. Please note that tuition is not prorated when there are fewer than four classes, and in return, there are no added fees when a fifth week occurs. Tuition for Summer is based on a flat rate per session.

  • Holidays and closures are NOT included in the 4-week period.

  • Tuition is subject to change.

  • Tuition is non-refundable. We do not prorate or refund for absences, but we do offer make-ups.

  • Tuition is due between the 15th and 25th of each month for the following month. Tuition received after the 25th of the month is considered late. A $25 late fee will be applied.

  • Students who have not paid their tuition before the start of the first class of each month will not be able to participate unless all fees are paid for. If you have any questions or would like to inquire about our tuition waiver, please see Malia Tafua, Director.

  • For those who cannot commit to a full term, we offer a drop-in rate of $20/hour. The amount must be paid prior to class.

Schedule Change

  • I understand that a class could be canceled, or the day/time changed if it does not meet the minimum requirement of five participants. I’m also aware that if a class is canceled or the day/time is changed, alternative opportunities will be provided in an effort to accommodate.

Attendance

  • I understand that refunds are not given for missed classes and tuition applies regardless of absence. I understand that attendance is important for the student and their classmates to optimize their learning. I’m aware that dress rehearsal and attendance two weeks prior to a recital are mandatory and will ensure a student is present. I agree to schedule a private lesson(s) in the event the student misses more than three classes and is struggling to learn the technique and/or choreography. The Teaching Assistants are not permitted to teach choreography unless permission has been received by the Director.

Property

  • Students and their guests agree to respect and care for the property and equipment of Te Fano O Te Ra Inc. This includes utilizing property/equipment appropriately, keeping personal belongings tidy, and cleaning up after oneself. I understand that students and/or guests of students that cause significant damage will be held financially responsible for repair. Additionally, in order to extend the life of the Studio floors, no food or drinks (except water) are allowed in the studio, and no shoes are allowed on studio dance floors.

Studio Rules for Dancers:

  • No running, yelling or rough playing at the dance studio.

  • Help keep your studio clean and tidy. Please throw away all trash.

  • No gossip, obscene language or inappropriate conversations are tolerated during class or around the studio.

  • No gum, food or drink of any kind (except water) is allowed inside the studio rooms.

Visitor Agreement

  • We would appreciate those not taking a class (i.e., parents, family members, friends, etc.) to limit their time in the hallway and waiting room area (room next to the restroom) during afternoon classes. Because our hallway is so small, it quickly becomes a shoulder-to-shoulder experience and can get extremely loud. We would like to dedicate our waiting room and hallway area to students and staff. This will leave room for staff class prep, encourage students to do their homework while waiting for class, as well as leave room for students and staff to take breaks comfortably. Students and staff really appreciate your understanding and consideration.

  • Guests are invited to watch the last 10 mins of class.

Costume/Recital Ticket Agreement

  • Costuming is required for Te Fano's June recitals and December performances.

  • Self-costumes (December Recital): Instructors provide student/parent self-costuming information (i.e., online purchase, etc.) and dates by which costumes must be purchased.

  • Catalog costumes (June Recital): Instructors choose costumes from a catalog; parents are billed a costuming fee Costumes are distributed at Instructor’s discretion.

  • A ticket is required to watch each recital. This payment covers the cost of auditorium rentals, printing fees staff to run the show, and vendors for set-up, tear-down, and lighting. Each dancer is required to sell 10 tickets for our Summer Recitals.

  • Costume costs and recital tickets are in addition to monthly tuition.

Addressing Issues

  • Unfortunately, we do make mistakes. We welcome you as dancers and parents to bring those to our attention. We do ask that you use discretion as you address them with us. We ask that any conversations that are sensitive and private in the matter be held while classes are not in session and are addressed to the director. If issues concern other parents or children, please do not address this issue at the studio. Please resolve the issue independently or make an appointment with the director to resolve the situation. Angry dialog, foul language, and physical threats will not be tolerated. Parents and/or students who display this type of behavior may be asked to no longer participate in the classes at Te Fano O Te Ra. Please remember that these rules are for the safety and comfort of ALL dancers.
